Post-MBA and experienced hire
The school was the hard part everyone warned you about. The seat is the part nobody did.
Founder-led advisory for candidates recruiting into private equity, investment banking, venture capital and consulting at associate level and above. This is not admissions support. You are already where you were trying to get. The problem starts now.
Forty-five minutes, founder-led. You leave with a written read on which part of your candidacy is failing and why, whether or not we go further. Application only.
The diagnosis
Strong operators read as operators, and funds hire investors.
You arrive with a consulting or banking programme behind you and a real record of value creation. It is impressive. It is also the wrong shape.
Funds do not lose interest at first contact. Your CV clears. The first conversation goes well. They lose interest at the second conversation, when you describe what you improved rather than defend a thesis about why an asset was worth owning. Those are different jobs, and the second one is the one being assessed.
The failure is rarely capability. It is register. Nobody tells you this, because the people interviewing you are not there to coach you, and your careers office is calibrated to a much wider distribution of candidates than the one you are competing in.
The same break, three other shapes
- The consultant who cannot articulate a sector thesis
- Fluent on frameworks and structured problem solving, and unable to say which part of a market they would put money behind, or why now rather than three years ago.
- The banker who has executed but never formed a view
- Several closed processes and real technical depth, with the investment decision always taken by somebody else. The question that exposes it is not technical, it is which of these deals would you have done with your own money.
- The operator whose depth reads as narrowness
- Genuine domain expertise that is heard as a single sector rather than a durable edge. The material is there. The framing turns an asset into a limit.
That gap has a name, it is diagnosable in forty-five minutes, and closing it is the whole of the work.

Who you would be working with
Ten thousand applications read from the hiring side, before advising anyone.
Hassan Akram reviewed more than 10,000 applications from the buy-side and sell-side at recruitment agencies hiring for venture capital, private equity, investment banking and corporate law. He sat on the hiring side of the table, selecting candidates for the firms you are targeting, before he ever advised a single one.
That is the difference between someone who has read the research on how these processes work and someone who ran the screen. The diagnosis on this page is not a theory about why candidates fail. It is a pattern seen from the other chair, repeatedly.

What the engagement is
Founder-led throughout, sequenced against the calendar you are actually running.
Every session is with Hassan. There is no associate, no delivery team and no handover after the first call. Between sessions your written work comes back reviewed rather than acknowledged, and asynchronous support runs through the live parts of a process rather than pausing until the next scheduled slot.
Engagements include access to the ECS framework vault. Session entitlement is scoped in ranges at the scoping conversation and varies with the cycle you are running and the ground to cover.
Nothing here is a fixed curriculum delivered in order. On-cycle private equity, consulting recruiting and associate banking hiring each run to their own calendar, and the work sequences against whichever one you are in. If a process opens mid engagement, it takes priority over the plan.

The frameworks, at senior level
Three of them do the work at associate level and above.
PEAL-3
Created by Hassan Akram
Builds the thesis narrative. Not a way of structuring an anecdote, which you can already do. A method for holding a defensible position on a market or an asset across a full conversation, including the part where a partner pushes back and the honest answer is that the evidence has changed.
PEAL-X
Created by Hassan Akram
Anchors fund-specific interest to verifiable fact. The reason most why-this-fund answers fail is that they are true of thirty funds. PEAL-X ties the answer to what a specific firm has actually done, at a level of detail that cannot be produced from a website in ten minutes.
Akram V-T-M-R Formula
Created by Hassan Akram
Translates operating work into investor language. This is the one that closes the gap named at the top of this page: it converts a record of what you improved into a case for what you would own, without inventing experience you do not have.
PEAL-3, PEAL-X and the Akram V-T-M-R Formula are UK-registered trade marks held by Hassan Akram.
What is on the record
A short proof section, deliberately.
ECS has documented client outcomes across London, New York and Hong Kong, with evidence held on file. Those outcomes are predominantly undergraduate and early-career, and presenting them to you would be the wrong signal about who this advisory is for. So they are not on this page.
What is relevant to you is the hiring-side credential above, the MBA club invitations, and an endorsement from someone who ran campus recruiting at a bulge-bracket bank and career development at a top-ten business school. That is a narrower claim than a placement statistic and it has the advantage of being verifiable.
You are welcome to test all of it in the diagnostic. Forty-five minutes is enough to tell whether the read on your candidacy is sharper than the one you already have.

How it works
Three steps, starting with forty-five minutes.
- 01DiagnosticForty-five minutes, founder-led. Hassan reads the candidacy against the roles you are targeting and identifies which part of the process is failing and why. You leave with a written read whether or not this goes further.
- 02ScopingIf there is a fit, scope and sequence are agreed against your live calendar and the ground that has to be covered. Commercial terms are discussed here, in conversation.
- 03EngagementFounder-led throughout, running with your cycle rather than to a fixed syllabus.
Application only. ECS works with a limited number of clients and declines enquiries where the timing, profile or expectations are not a fit.
Apply
Four questions about the process, not about you.
No test scores, no transcript, no personal detail. The only thing worth knowing at this stage is where the process is breaking.

Private Client Advisory sets out the full advisory model. Hassan Akram covers the founder background and the hiring-side record in detail. Track Record is the documented outcome index, and venture capital and private equity go deeper on those two markets.
Documented past outcomes vary by candidate, cycle and process. Past results do not guarantee future results. ECS does not guarantee interviews, offers or any other outcome. Some clients are anonymised at their request. Evidence held on file. ECS is independent and unaffiliated with any firm, fund, university or business school named on this page.
