How we help

Strong candidate. No offers. We find out why.

Strong candidates rarely fall short for lack of ability. In ECS's experience, the more common problem is that nobody has worked out which stage of the process they are losing. ECS is a private, one-to-one advisory led personally by Hassan Akram, and it starts by naming that stage.

Corporate law, investment banking, private equity, venture capital and consulting. Nothing off the shelf, no cohort, no block of hours.

The method

Three things have to be fixed, and in this order.

In the candidacies ECS reviews, the loss usually sits at one of three points, and effort spent on the wrong one tends to achieve little. The method, registered as Offer-Engineering for Elite Careers®, takes them in this order.

1

Fix what is on paper

Before anyone reads it

Many applications fall at the first screen, before anyone reads them closely. The CV and the written evidence are rebuilt so the strongest material is visible at once.

Applying repeatedly, hearing nothing back.

2

Write each application properly

Firm by firm

Why this profession, why this firm, and what evidence backs it, answered per firm rather than pasted between them. Generic answers are a recurring weakness in the applications ECS reviews.

Magic Circle, US law firms, bulge bracket, private capital.

3

Rehearse the interview

Against the real format

Interviews and assessment centres are practised under the real conditions, until the answers hold under pressure.

Reaching interviews, not getting the offer.

Personalisation

What is built around each candidate.

"Bespoke" is easy to claim. Four things change from one client to the next.

Your target firms

A Magic Circle training contract process and a bulge bracket markets process reward different evidence and are assessed by different people.

Your failed stage

Work starts where the case is breaking down, not where a standard sequence says to begin.

Your evidence

Your record is rebuilt into a case an assessor reads quickly. Nothing is invented; what is there is made legible.

Your cycle and deadlines

The sequence is set against the real calendar, including where an application should be held back rather than sent early.

What the work looks like

The plan is a document, not a conversation.

Ten days before a Magic Circle assessment centre, one client received a written preparation plan built around his profile and that firm's format. Below is its shape: ten days, each with a theme, each requiring timed written work, a group exercise drill and interview practice to camera. Every day, all three. That is the level of specificity an engagement produces.

What is included

What the family receives.

  • One-to-one sessions with Hassan Akram, not a coordinator or an associate.
  • A written advisory plan setting out the diagnosis, the sequence of work and the firms in scope.
  • Application and written-evidence work firm by firm, reviewed line by line.
  • Interview, assessment-centre and written-test rehearsal against the real format.
  • A record of every session, with assigned actions tracked to completion.

The full list, and what a parent or sponsor sees, is on the engagement.

The work itself

Two screens from a live engagement.

The plan narrows the week to three pieces of work, in the order they should be done, and re-runs when the position changes.

The ECS Private Client Vault dashboard. The plan panel states that the planning engine selects this week's three highest-leverage pieces of work, above route entries for Corporate Law, Investment Banking, Buy-Side and Markets, Venture Capital and Strategy Consulting.
The ECS Private Client Vault. Captured live, 12 August 2026.

The panel at the top of the second screen is a marking correction published to clients: an item was keyed wrong, it was found, and the effect on scores already recorded was stated plainly. A practice that never publishes a correction is not a practice without errors.

Watson Glaser Mock 16 running in the ECS Private Client Vault, headed by a published marking correction dated 5 August 2026 explaining which items were re-keyed and how prior scores were affected.

What ECS will not do

The limits, stated plainly.

We do not sell access.

ECS holds no relationship with any employer that could influence a hiring decision. Every outcome here was won through the firm's own process.

We do not guarantee outcomes.

Hiring decisions rest with the firms. ECS commits to the preparation, not the result.

We do not fill in applications.

The candidate writes and speaks for themselves. If they cannot defend a line in an interview, it does not go in.

We do not take everyone.

Where ECS is not the right answer, we say so at the Diagnostic rather than after an engagement letter.

The route in

It begins with an application.

  1. 01

    Apply

You send the case: the applications, the rejections, the firms and the timings.

  2. 02

    Reviewed for fit

Applications are reviewed for timing, fit and delivery capacity before a Diagnostic is offered.

  3. 03

    Private Diagnostic

A structured conversation with Hassan, parent or sponsor welcome. Scope is discussed only afterwards.

If the problem is real, start with the diagnosis.

ECS works with a limited number of private clients each year.

Disclosures and remaining questions

Is ECS one-to-one, or something off the shelf?

One-to-one. Every session is between the candidate and Hassan Akram. There is no cohort and no self-serve programme.

Is pricing published?

No. Scope and investment are discussed privately, after the Diagnostic, and only where an engagement would be appropriate.

Outcomes vary and are never guaranteed. ECS is independent and unaffiliated with any firm or university. Evidence for every outcome claimed here is held on file.
