Elite Careers Strategy
By Application · ~30 Private Clients per Year
For families and sponsors

You invested in the education. The offer still has to be won.

Your child may have strong grades, a good university and real ambition, and still be collecting rejections. It is rarely a lack of effort. It is that nobody has worked out which part of the process they are losing.

ECS is a private, one-to-one advisory led by Hassan Akram. Families apply; not every application leads to an engagement.

Led by Hassan Akram. Parent or sponsor welcome. Applications are reviewed for fit before a Diagnostic is offered.

The questions families arrive with

Answered plainly, before you apply.

Is my child actually capable of this?

Usually yes, and the Diagnostic will say so plainly either way. Most candidates who reach us are academically capable and are failing on how their case is being presented and assessed, not on ability. Where the ambition and the profile genuinely do not meet, we say that at the Diagnostic rather than after an engagement letter.

Why are the offers not coming?

Because something specific is failing, and nobody has identified it. Applications filtered before a person reads them, screening tests, interviews that do not progress, assessment centres that do not convert, or a strategy problem sitting above all of them. These require different work. The first job is to find out which one it is.

Will this be handled discreetly?

Yes. Most families are never named. Documented evidence is held privately and published only where a family has given explicit consent, and identifying details are withheld wherever anonymity has been requested.

What is my role as a parent?

To be present for the decision, and then to step back from the execution. Parents or sponsors are welcome at the Diagnostic and at the family decision. Between those points the candidate does the work and owns the process, which is also what the firms are assessing.

Will my child keep their independence?

That is the design. ECS does not write applications, sit interviews or speak to employers on a candidate’s behalf. If a candidate cannot defend a line under questioning, it does not go in. What improves is their judgement, not their ghostwriting.

What if ECS is not the right fit?

Then no engagement is proposed. Applications are reviewed for timing, fit and capacity before a Diagnostic is offered, and the Diagnostic itself can end with a recommendation to do nothing, to wait a cycle, or to go elsewhere.

What a diagnosis changes.

Karam Kahlon, University of Exeter, named ECS private client with documented HSBC investment-banking internship and Blackstone spring insight outcomes.
Named with permission

Karam Kahlon, University of Exeter

Started with no investment-banking interviews from a university outside the traditional front-office pipeline. Across a multi-year advisory engagement: an HSBC 2026 investment-banking internship and a Blackstone 2026 spring insight place.

Redacted White and Case London training contract offer letter, anonymised at the family's request. Evidence held on file.
Anonymised at the family’s request

White & Case, London Training Contract

Four consecutive cycles of applications and not one assessment-centre invitation. The written case was being filtered before a person read it. Rebuilt, rehearsed against the real assessment format, and converted to a training contract offer.

Both outcomes above arose from paid private advisory engagements and are documented, held on file, and either named with permission or anonymised at the family’s request. Outcomes vary by candidate, cycle and process; ECS does not guarantee offers, interviews or other results, and is independent and unaffiliated with any firm or university named here. Candidates who reached elite-firm outcomes using the public ECS frameworks alone, with no paid engagement, are shown separately on the track record.

How it works for a family

Three conversations, and only if each one earns the next.

A private Diagnostic with Hassan that ends with a straight answer on where the process is being lost, then a scoping conversation only if ECS can help, then your decision with the plan in front of you, and nobody is asked to commit on a call.

What a family actually receives, including the written work that follows each session and what a parent or sponsor can see, is set out on the engagement. Where a family’s brief spans several cycles, covering university positioning, internships, applications and conversion, multi-year family advisory may be scoped after the Diagnostic.

Apply together.

ECS works with a limited number of private clients each year. Parents and sponsors are welcome at the Diagnostic, and the family decides with the full scope in front of them.
