How ECS counts outcomes

What the ECS outcomes figure includes, what it excludes and how it is kept honest.

ECS states its record as 106 documented outcomes and selection progressions across 53 candidate journeys. This page explains what that figure includes, what it excludes and how it is maintained.

What counts

  • An outcome is a final result recorded in a candidate journey, such as an offer or a place on a programme.
  • A selection progression is a documented step forward in a selection process, such as an invitation to an assessment centre or final round.
  • A candidate journey is one candidate's recruitment path. One journey can contain several events.

Each event is graded by the strength of its evidence. The strongest grade requires the underlying artefact, such as an offer email, to have been opened and checked, not just referenced.

What the figure does not claim

  • It is not a count of offers, placements, paid clients or successful candidates.
  • It is not a success rate. ECS does not record every application a candidate makes, so no success rate can honestly be calculated.
  • It does not claim that ECS caused any outcome. It records that the outcome happened in a journey where the candidate used ECS advisory or ECS's free public content.

Paid advisory and free content are kept separate

Some of the 106 events come from candidates who used only ECS's free public content, with no paid engagement. ECS reports those separately from paid advisory engagements and does not present one as the other.

How the figure is maintained

The register was reconciled in August 2026. An earlier figure of 114 was reduced to 106 after duplicates were withdrawn, one misattributed event was removed, some events were regraded or merged into a single journey and a small number of newly evidenced events were added. The figure is revised when the evidence changes, and superseded figures are not reused.

Privacy

Named outcomes are published only with the candidate's consent. Other outcomes are anonymised, and identifying details are removed.
